Malcom X Men’s Tee
Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little in Omaha, NE, was the son of a baptist preacher who followed the teachings of the founder of the United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), Marcus Garvey. Malcolm opposed the mainstream Civil Rights movement lead by Dr. King and others which called for peace and equality through nonviolent protests. He, along with John Henrik Clarke, founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU) in 1964 whose primary focus was education. It was believed that through education; repairing the damages of slavery, economic discrimination, and physical violence to Blacks in the United States, could be achieved. On February 19, 1965, Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom and the OOAU never reached its potential.
