Olympics Fist Men’s Tee
In 1967, Dr. Harry Edwards, with the help of numerous amateur Black athletes formed the Olympic Project for Human rights in an effort to boycott the 1968 Mexico Olympic games. Many Black Athletes felt that they were being exploited for their athletic prowess and being used by the country in which they represented to display a false depiction of harmony between Blacks and Whites in the United States. Olympians John Carlos, Tommie Smith, and Peter Norman will be forever linked due to their silent protest during the Men’s 200m awards ceremony.
